Inter County Boys U19 First Round 12-10-14

The U19’s travelled to Diss for the first round of the Inter-Counties to play against Suffolk and Norfolk.

The team comprised:-

1. Jeremy Harris.

2. Laurence Temple.

3. Joe Weavers.

4. Greg Goodwin.

With our 5th player unavailable due to injury, a 4 man team always meant we were going to struggle.

First up was the match against Suffolk who fielded a team with 3 players in the top 35 of the national rankings. Laurence Temple struggled to find his form at no 2 losing out 3-0 whilst on the other court Joe Weavers battled away putting in an excellent performance before losing 3-1. Greg Goodwin at 4 got us back on the winning track beating his opponent 3-0 before a titanic battle between Jeremy Harris and the Suffolk no 1 ended up with Jeremy just coming out 2nd best losing 3-2 in a very close fought encounter.

The second game against Norfolk proved a bit easier. Although we lost the 5th rubber by default, comfortable victories from Jeremy, Joe and Greg along with a “clutching victory from the jaws of defeat” performance from Laurence saw us home 4-1.

With a full squad we should be in a position to do very well in the next round on the 23rd Nov
