Cambridgeshire ladies were once again punching well above their weight in the stage 2 weekend for a chance to get promotion into the premier division.
We had a tough draw facing North Wales and Warwickshire, needing to win the group to gain promotion.
First up we had North Wales. Sarah Howlett once again proved herself to be a valuable asset to the county team winning against a top Welsh junior at 5. However, the rest of the team faced some tough competition and we lost at strings 1-4.
If we could pull off a heavy win against Warwickshire we would still have a chance of winning overall. However we didn't get off to a good start with our strings 5, 4, 3 and 1 all falling to tough opponents. Tayla Mounter was last on court and redeemed the team by getting a great win at 2nd string to finish the match and give the team something to cheer about.
We had a tall order facing some very strong teams all of which had a much bigger pool of players and population to call upon. However, we are making progress as a county to have been able to reach this stage and it is something to be proud of.
Thanks to the team:
